The holidays are fast approaching and most of us start to feel the anxiety, stress, and the physical pressure it puts on our bodies. One of the most effective ways to treat the onset of “Holiday Syndrome,” as I call it, is to nip it before it begins! How do we do that; you may be wondering?
I know it’s hard to nip holiday stress because I’m a college student with a busy schedule, a wedding to plan, and a household to tend to! To reduce my holiday stress, I try to shop early and use a planner to keep organized. Planning ahead always involves taking some “me time”.
“Me time” can be anything from a nice bubble bath, a glass of red wine and a good book, or cuddles with my loving cat Grace. The ultimate way to relax, however, is to get a massage. I often book a two-hour massage myself (I’m spoiled that way), but a one-hour does the trick just fine. I often get an upgrade for aromatherapy. My favorite is eucalyptus because it helps me breathe better and feel relaxed. Eucalyptus reminds me of my childhood, but my mother was very fond of Vic’s Vapor Rub…so maybe that’s why.
As the holidays approach, take some time to yourself, take that bubble bath and use the fancy soap, drink the good red wine you’ve been saving for a special occasion, buy the special edition of your favorite book, and hey, go adopt a kitten from a shelter! Most of all don’t forget to carve some time out for a custom therapeutic massage from LaVida Massage. Whatever it is you do, make sure you treat yourself. After all, the holidays are the most wonderful time of the year and feeling better is the perfect beginning to a hectic holiday ending.
